Diane Von Furstenberg is widely considered one of the most influential women in fashion. She has given us a lifetime of stunning prints that have graced the summer wardrobes of every fashion forward woman in the industry, as well as the iconic wrap dress, arguably the most flattering piece of clothing every to be draped on a woman's body.
Having studied economics in Switzerland, Diane von Furstenberg always had a head for business, now apparent through her multi national design corporation. A love of style and graceful clothing inspired her to bring a fun chic side to American high fashion.
Through a knowledge of the female form and a love for simple design, Furstenberg has been awarded a lifetime achievement award in fashion, honoured in the costume institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and has held the presidential title for the Council of Fashion Designers of America since 2009. When it comes to combing fashion and business, no one does it better.
Season after season, Furstenberg produces gloriously feminine pieces that still retain a bold, graphic quality. Her polished look can be seen every season in her chunky jewellery, printed scarves and the glossy manes that tumble down her models' shoulders. A DVF collection is instantly recognisable, and because of this has become a coveted brand. Any woman with discerning taste has a slice of Furstenberg's talent in her wardrobe.
With philanthropic credentials that rival her design career, it can honestly be said that Diane von Furstenberg is one of the most powerful women today.
