Knitwear guru, Craig Lawrence pushed the boundaries of fashion to the max at London Fashion Week this season incorporating unusual materials, namely reflective clear yarn into his Spring/Summer 2013 knitted designs. As Craig explained, “The reflective yarn is in fact the same as the one used in cycling gear and on health & safety jackets.”

Whilst we normally associate floral prints on pretty summer tea dresses, this season designers carried on the flower trend as we witnessed the Autumn/Winter 2012 catwalks in full bloom. Honing the winter floral trend were noticeably designers Erdem, Nina Ricci, Osman and Valentino.

Trend – Pleating

Whether it’s chiffon, silk, wool or leather, pleats were big on the A/W12 runway. BCBG, Dior, diesel, and Emilia Wickstead all championed the accordion with great aplomb. And don’t be fooled by the preconceptions that follow the pleat around. A well placed fold can add depth, volume and texture to any ensemble, and doesn’t have to stick to the rules of girlishness.
