Trends – Winter Florals

Whilst we normally associate floral prints on pretty summer tea dresses, this season designers carried on the flower trend as we witnessed the Autumn/Winter 2012 catwalks in full bloom. Honing the winter floral trend were noticeably designers Erdem, Nina Ricci, Osman and Valentino.

Trends: Eastern Promise

Opulence and decadence are themes that always come back during the autumn and winter seasons. After months of sugary pastels and frothy textures the fashion forward are reaching out for something striking and impossibly chic, and Oriental styles fit the bill perfectly.

Hot Reds

Cerise, crimson, magenta, maroon, ruby, russet, scarlet and sanguine. Red is undoubtedly the hottest colour of the season (quite literally). Whilst this flaming hue has been a repeat player in the trend stakes for the past few seasons, the rules for S/S12 are a little different...

Trend – Pleating

Whether it’s chiffon, silk, wool or leather, pleats were big on the A/W12 runway. BCBG, Dior, diesel, and Emilia Wickstead all championed the accordion with great aplomb. And don’t be fooled by the preconceptions that follow the pleat around. A well placed fold can add depth, volume and texture to any ensemble, and doesn’t have to stick to the rules of girlishness.
